I love this painting, everytime I see it I get chills. Theres something really intimate yet eerie at the same time. The fact that Mary is holding her dead son in her own two hands while surrounded by mourning angels…

Also, I really like the golden crowns (?) Halos above Mary and Jesus head. It really puts the subject into perspective of this piece
